Equine Assisted Learning Practitioner (EALP) Course
Entry Requirements and Course Guidelines
2026
Welcome to the OCNLR Level 4 Certificate in Facilitating Equine Assisted Learning. We are pleased that you are considering joining this internationally delivered qualification programme.
The course is designed to support the development of safe, ethical and professionally guided Equine Assisted Learning practice through a combination of online study, practical experience and reflective learning.
To maintain high professional standards and ensure a positive learning experience for all participants, learners are expected to meet the requirements and deadlines outlined below.

Before the Programme Beginss
By 15 November 2026, please pay the course administration fee and submit all required documents and tasks listed below. This is the final deadline and the latest possible submission date. After we accept your documents and tasks, you will receive an invoice for the course fee.
To allow enough time for possible corrections, editing, or resubmission of materials, we strongly encourage you to pay the administration fee and submit your requirements well in advance of the deadline.
Please carefully review the admission requirements before applying. Learners whose qualifications do not comply with the list of accepted professions and qualifications, who are 19 years old or younger, or who do not submit all required documents by the deadline, will unfortunately not be accepted into the course. In these cases, the administration fee is non-refundable.
1 - Submit a copy of your diplomas and certificates. Provide copies of relevant diplomas or certificates listed in the accepted professions and qualifications document. This online course is exclusively available to learners with the listed professions and qualifications.

- Putting a halter on an equine

- Putting on the bridle and saddle
- Leading the equine independently in an arena or paddock for at least one full round with a minimum diameter of 50 metres, including two halts and walking on again
Submitting Your Work for the EALP Course
Throughout the course, you’ll upload your videos, files, and assignments, and we’ll use Google Drive to keep them all tidy and accessible.
Here is how to set it up:
- Please create a Google Drive folder as soon as possible, name it 2026-EALP course – Your Full Name, and share it with me at vera@hipoterapie-kurzy.com. Make sure the access is open so that all lecturers can view your work.
- Upload all your materials to this folder. Each time you add something new, please share the link to your document with me at vera@hipoterapie-kurzy.com so I know it’s there.
- When naming your folders and documents, please always use this format: 2026-EALP course – Your Full Name – Document Title.
- All submissions must go through your Google Drive folder only. Because email and social media submissions may be lost, we cannot accept them.
As a secondary education (high school or equivalent) graduate, we trust you are familiar with the academic standards expected in your submissions for an L4 qualification.
Participation and Deadlines
The course runs for 12 months. Several tasks must be submitted throughout the year, and regular participation and timely submission of tasks are essential for successful completion of the programme.
Learners experiencing difficulties are encouraged to communicate with the team as early as possible. Extensions may be requested according to the Extension Policy.
Failure to maintain communication or repeated missed deadlines may result in interruption of studies.
Course requirements
During the course, you will be required to complete several tasks. You will receive detailed guidelines at the beginning of the course. Listed below are the major assignments; in addition, you will complete several smaller tasks throughout the course.
- Submit one case study and one assessment video demonstrating your practical skills.
- Submit a video of a dressage test. If you are not already an active rider, you must begin your training immediately at your own time and expense.
- Submit a video of ground work with an equine.
- Complete 30 hours of hands-on practice in a centre of your choice.
- Submit a Virtual EAS centre project.
- Attend two live online webinars. Attendance is mandatory. Missing a live event will disrupt your studies and will not be reimbursed.
We may take photos and videos during live course events for educational and promotional purposes.
Non-negotiable standards
We expect every learner to uphold the highest standards of professional conduct and equine welfare, in line with the ethical guidelines of HETI. If any breach of the five domains of equine welfare is observed in your submitted materials, we will need to pause until the issue is resolved.
If you face genuine difficulties, you may apply for an extension under the extension rules.
